  1. 2) EXCHANGING MULTIPLE SYSTEMS FOR ONE SYSTEM
  2.  
  3. Customers moving from multiple systems to one system will receive
  4. an upgrade credit for networking products from only one of the current
  5. systems.  They can decided which current system they want the upgrade
  6. credit on.  Once they've decided which system to take the upgrade
  7. credit on, they they should following the policies stated in the
  8. matrix.
  9.  
  10. EXAMPLE:
  11.  
  12.    Customer has S/920 and a S/925. They will be consolidating and
  13.    upgrading these systems to one S/980. They've decided to take the
  14.    upgrade credit on the S/925. They would do the following to order
  15.    the networking products;
  16.  
  17.           Order the network products for the S/980, following the
  18.           upgrade policies for upgrading one system (S/925) to a system
  19.           on a higher tier (S/980).
  20.  
  21.        Their order would be; (assuming they had NS Services and LAN
  22.           Link)
  23.  
  24.        1) NS Services 36920A
  25.           a) option 350, S/W for S/980
  26.           b) option 0CE, upgrade credit for NS Services on S/925
  27.  
  28.        2) LAN Link 36923A
  29.           a) option 350, Link S/W for S/980
  30.           b) option 442, Turbo LAN card for S/980*
  31.           c) option 0CE, upgrade credit for LAN Link on S/925
  32.  
  33.       * For this customer, the S/925 did not have a Turbo LAN card so
  34.         they needed to order one. If their system had a Turbo LAN card,
  35.         they would order option 090 instead of 442 which specifies
  36.         software only.

  39. 3) EXCHANGING ONE SYSTEM FOR MULTIPLE SYSTEMS
  40.  
  41. Customers will receive a network product upgrade credit for the one
  42. current system towards only one of the new systems. Again they should
  43. following the policies in the matrix whether they are upgrading,
  44. downgrading, or exchanging systems on the same tier.
  45.  
  46. EXAMPLE:
  47.  
  48.    Customer has a S/70 and is ordering a S/925 now and a S/935 six
  49.    months later. They would do the following to order network products;
  50.  
  51.           Order the network products for the S/925, following the
  52.           procedures for upgrading an MPE V system to an MPE XL system
  53.           on a lower tier.  Then order the network products for the
  54.           S/935. There is no upgrade credit towards the network
  55.           products on the S/935.
  56.  
  57.        Their order would be;
  58.  
  59.        1) NS Services 36920A
  60.          For S/925
  61.            a) option 320, S/W for S/925
  62.            b) option 0G3, upgrade credit for NS Services on S/70
  63.            c) M55 to zero out total. (The above two option would show
  64.               a negative dollar amount.)
  65.  
  66.          For S/935
  67.            a) option 330, S/W for S/935
  68.  
  69.        2) LAN Link 36923A
  70.          For S/925
  71.            a)  option 320, Link S/W for S/925
  72.            b)  option 342, ThinLAN H/W option for S/925
  73.  
  74.            Return Credit for MPE V LAN Link H/W 30242AN
  75.            a)  option 200, for S/70
  76.  
  77.          For S/935
  78.            a)  option 330, Link S/W for S/935
  79.            b)  option 342, ThinLAN H/W option for S/935

  82. 4) WHEN NEW NETWORKING HARDWARE IS NEEDED (LAN OR PSI CARDS)

  84. In most cases, customers will be able to move to a new system and use
  85. their current network link hardware card (LAN or PSI) on the new
  86. system. The exceptions are;
  87.  
  88.   1) Moving from a system that doesn't have a TURBO LAN card to
  89.      a system that requires it.
  90.  
  91.      If the customer's current system was shipped prior to December
  92.      1989, they most likely will not have the TURBO LAN card. This card
  93.      was shipped with all systems starting in December 1989. The only
  94.      system that requires a TURBO LAN card is the S/980. If the
  95.      customer is upgrading to a S/980 from a system bought before
  96.      December 1989, they will need to upgrade their LAN card. For
  97.      example, if upgrading from a 935;

  99.               36923A option 442 - TURBO LAN Card for S/980 upgrade
  100.                             350 - LAN Link for S/980
  101.                             0CF - Upgrade credit for 935
  102.  
  103.   2) Moving from a system that uses that same LAN card for both
  104.      TIO traffic and system-to-system traffic to a system that
  105.      requires two separate LAN cards.
  106.  
  107.      The customer must purchase another LAN card for the system
  108.      to system traffic. For example, if they were upgrading from
  109.      a S/932 to a S/960 their order would be:

  111.            36923A option 342 - LAN card for ThinLAN
  112.                          340 - LAN Link for S/960
  113.                          0CE - upgrade credit for S/932
